Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), a leading automobile manufacturer and mobility provider, has revealed that it has sold more than 2 million vehicles in the Philippines since its founding in 1988.

This achievement follows TMP’s 20th straight year of Triple Crown success, in which the company led the industry in passenger car sales, commercial vehicle sales, and total sales in 2021.

“Surpassing the two million mark would not be possible without the support of our loyal Toyota and Lexus customers, the commitment of our 73-strong Toyota dealer network, and of course the sense of ownership that every TMP team member has to our goal and responsibility of providing mobility for all. Thank you for making Philippines a Toyota country,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.

“As a way of thanking our loyal customers who are part of the 2M sales milestone, we promise that One Team Toyota PH, which is composed of TMP, our affiliates, and our entire dealer network, will continue working as one to provide the best possible ownership experience,” Okamoto added.

Dr. George SK Ty founded TMP via a solid relationship between GT Capital Holdings, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Mitsui & Co., LTD, with the goal of creating an internationally competitive automobile manufacturing business in the country. TMP has risen to become one of the country’s top firms during the last 34 years.

TMP is now one of Toyota’s primary manufacturers and distributors in the Asia Pacific area, making Toyota the Philippines’ most popular automobile brand for decades, with a market share of 46.3 percent expected by the end of 2021. TMP now has the largest year-end market share in company history, as well as the highest in the ASEAN area.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the generations of Toyota owners in the Philippines who have trusted and embraced the Toyota brand since TMP opened more than three decades ago,” said Alfred Ty, Chairman of TMP.  “We are truly humbled that Filipinos have welcomed the Toyota brand as family, and we are grateful to be entrusted with the responsibility of helping the Philippines build a mobility-empowered society. Your continued trust and patronage inspire us to continuously improve and evolve our operations, so that we can help modernize mobility and contribute to nation-building.”

TMP, based in Laguna’s Sta. Rosa City, runs the country’s largest automobile production and assembly factory, which produces the best-selling Vios and Innova models. TMP’s activities help to improve the country’s automobile manufacturing industry and employ over 60,000 people across the full value chain. It has also served as a significant economic pillar, with the Toyota group investing a total of Php67 billion and reaching export sales of USD16.3 billion by 2020.

It has also been regularly recognized as a responsible corporate citizen for its cumulative responsibilities and taxes paid (approximately Php426 billion as of 2021) and community-giving activities.

TMP’s manufacturing factory has produced over 958,000 CKD units since its inception, including some of the most famous automobiles on the road including as the Crown, Corolla, Lite Ace, and Tamaraw. TMP’s domestic manufacturing facilities are still doing well, with over 35,000 Vios units sold last year, the largest of any passenger car (PC), and over 13,000 Innova vehicles sold.

The company’s guarantee of Quality, Durability, and Reliability contributes to Filipinos’ preference for Toyota automobiles (QDR). However, as the market and consumers’ needs change, Okamoto said TMP is dedicated to leading the way in altering the mobility environment by putting people first.

“More than just selling cars, TMP is all about addressing people’s mobility needs,” said Okamoto. “Through the years, we have been placing greater importance in improving customer service, value-chain offers, and overall Toyota ownership experience. We are assuring our customers that we are with them at every step of their customer journey, providing them flexibility, connectivity, convenience – all with the goal of producing mass happiness for all.”

Chairman Ty added that TMP’s reaching of its 2 Million sales milestone also comes at the right time when it’s in the middle of its brand transformation initiative.

“We are looking forward to a more exciting and promising future for our customers as we introduce more ways to move their world,” said Ty.
